Sometimes you know when you screwed up. Sometimes the sky falls, and you never see it coming.
Yesterday I jeopardized the biggest account in the shop. Big, like in if they go down the street, we all go home. Probably forever. It was a simple mistake and someone caught it almost immediately. The catch was not the important part. They could reverse the mistake easily. They just could not change the history showing it was made in the first place. If the client looks, they have to explain what the hell that moron was thinking doing that wrong thing.
What makes it worse is that I did not know it happened. I looked at the thing, then went on to work on the next thing. Except that the fancy machine I was using hadn't actually moved on to the next thing. I was looking at the second thing, but modifying the first. Bad. Really bad.
